In Massachusetts, you can usually see a physical therapist without a referral. This is called direct access, which means you can schedule pelvic floor physical therapy without first seeing another provider.

If your insurance requires documentation for out-of-network reimbursement, you may want to check your specific plan requirements.

Your first visit is about understanding the full picture of what’s going on. We’ll talk through your symptoms, health history, goals, and the activities that matter to you, then complete an individualized assessment based on what you’re experiencing.

Your first appointment is 75 minutes, giving us time to evaluate, explain what we find, and begin developing a treatment plan with you.

No. An internal pelvic floor exam is never required. If we think one could provide useful information, we’ll explain why, what it involves, and answer any questions before you decide whether you’re comfortable with it.

There are many other ways we can assess and treat the pelvic floor, and your care will always be guided by your comfort and consent.

Pelvic floor physical therapy looks at more than just the area where you’re having symptoms. We consider how your pelvic floor works with your core, hips, spine, breathing, strength, and movement to understand what may be contributing.

Our visits are one-on-one and allow us the time to individualize your care as your symptoms and goals change.

PelviCore is an out-of-network physical therapy practice and does not bill insurance directly. Our services are covered according to your plan’s out-of-network physical therapy benefits.

Payment is due at the time of your visit, and we provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement based on those benefits.

We ask that you provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice and missed appointments are subject to a fee of 50% of the scheduled visit, charged to the card on file.

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. Depending on what we’re assessing or treating, we may have you move through different positions or exercises, so clothing you feel comfortable moving in is best.

PelviCore is located at 489 Mt. Auburn St., Suite #4 in Watertown, MA. We’re near Arsenal Yards and easily accessible from Belmont, Cambridge, Newton, and surrounding communities.

Free street parking is available directly in front of the clinic, with additional parking available across the street.

Absolutely! Babies are always welcome at PelviCore. We understand that childcare isn’t always available—or that you may simply prefer to have your baby with you. We’ll work around feeding, diaper changes, snuggles, and whatever else comes up during your visit.
